September is the month for storms on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The extreme high tides and winds throw a lot of trash onto the beaches. Some of the detrus originates from settlements along the river courses that flow into our bays but it also comes from ships that dump their garbage at sea./ Septiembre es el mes de las tormentas en la costa del Pacífico de Costa Rica. La extremas mareas altas y vientos tirar un montón de basura en las playas. Thanks to Escuela de Samara, the beach will be cleaner today. After a brief pep talk by Carolina Alvarez, 5 teams were organized and the kids and teachers hit the beach. The winning team, with the most garbage collected, shared a gallon of ice cream provided by Hotel Casa del Mar. Thanks also to Mark and Zach and to Myla and Craig for gloves and bags./
