International Coastal Cleanup/ Dia Mundial Limpieza de Playas

Saturday 17 September 2011 – International Coastal Cleanup Day.   The idea was that if we all cleaned our beaches on the same day, the world over, my garbage wouldn’t wash up on your beach with the next tide.

In Playa Samara, the day brought out working teams at each end of the beach.  Thanks to Bonnie, Steve, Louise, Rosie, Austin, and Lavae.  We had a successful morning, filling a half dozen garbage bags with trash from the beach, and finished with breakfast at Soda Sherif.

But the real party was at the south end of the beach, where students, teachers, and parents from Escuela el Torito worked for several hours and then were treated to lunch by Hotel Villas Playa Samara.  There were T-shirts for everyone.  Thanks to Marco Carmona for organizing a great event.

Sábado, 17 de septiembre de 2011 – Día Mundial Limpieza de Playas.  La idea era que si todos nos limpian nuestras playas el mismo día, por todo el mundo, mi basura no lava en la playa suya con la próxima marea.

En Playa Samar, el día entregó dos equipos de trabajo en cada extremo de la playa.  Gracias a Bonnie, Steve, Louise, Rosie, Austin y Lavae.  Teníamos una mañana exitosa, una media  docena de bolsas llenas de basura de la playa y terminamos con desayuno en Soda Sherif.

Pero la verdadera fiesta fue en el extremo sur de la playa, donde estudiantes, profesores y padres de la Escuela el Torito trabajaron por varias horas y luego fueron tratados a almorzar por Hotel Villas Playa Samara.   Hubo camisetas para todos. Gracias a Marco Carmona para poner en un gran evento.
